At the heart of Andrew’s teaching is the belief that meaningful learning happens when students feel seen and supported. By forming strong connections with his students, Andrew helps foster enthusiasm, motivation, and confidence that extend beyond the piano bench. His goal is not only to teach notes and technique, but also to help students grow into confident, expressive musicians.

In addition to his musical training, Andrew brings valuable skills in communication, organization, and leadership from his experience coordinating large-scale events and working in team-driven environments. Life Beyond the Piano
Outside the studio, Andrew enjoys a wide range of interests that enrich his creativity and strengthen the way he connects with students. One of his most unique roles is serving as an emcee at gaming conventions, where he helps guide live events, introduce competitors, and keep audiences engaged. This experience sharpens his ability to think quickly, communicate clearly, and read the energy of a room—skills that translate naturally into his piano teaching. Whether he’s explaining a new concept or encouraging a student through a challenging passage, Andrew brings the same calm confidence and enthusiasm to every lesson.
Andrew also has a deep appreciation for food, culture, and travel, which he sees as another form of learning and inspiration. During a trip to Japan last summer, he enjoyed memorable meals such as tonkatsu ramen, stir-fried beef, and gyoza, experiences that left a lasting impression on him. Exploring new places and cuisines fuels his curiosity and reminds him of the importance of staying open-minded—an outlook he encourages in his students as they explore new music and ideas.
Closer to home, Andrew enjoys discovering great local food spots around Austin. His favorite place to eat is Julie’s Noodles, and while choosing a single favorite dish is never easy, beef noodles are always a reliable go-to. He also especially enjoys seafood, appreciating the variety of flavors and textures it offers.
Andrew is excited to be part of the Austin Arts Academy teaching team and values being part of a supportive, creative community. He looks forward to guiding students as they grow not only as musicians, but also as confident, motivated learners who enjoy the journey of learning piano.
